The UK Settlement programme, formally known as Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), allows individuals to remain in the UK permanently without immigration time restrictions. • Good character – Applicants must not have any serious criminal convictions or breaches of UK immigration law.

Application Process

Applying for ILR involves careful preparation and documentation:

1. Confirm that you meet the residence and eligibility requirements.

2. Collect supporting documents such as proof of residence, visa history, employment records, and English language certification.

3. Submit the application online through the UK Government portal, paying the relevant fee.

4. Attend a biometric appointment to provide fingerprints and a photograph.

5. Wait for the Home Office to process the application – decisions can take up to 6 months.

• Applicants must show proof of income and salary payments from the overseas parent company.

• Evidence must be provided that the UK entity has been generating business activity, primarily with UK-based firms, since the initial visa was granted.

• The applicant must already be living in the UK at the time of applying for the extension.

Visa Duration

If approved, the extension grants an additional 2 years of stay in the UK. After meeting the required residency period, applicants can move forward toward Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) and eventually full settlement.
