According to UK immigration policy, the UK Innovator Visa is designed as a route for experienced entrepreneurs and business professionals who wish to establish a business in the United Kingdom. Applicants must present an innovative, viable, and scalable business idea that is endorsed by an approved endorsing body. In most cases, applicants are also required to have sufficient investment funding. Unlike many other routes, the Innovator Visa provides a pathway to long-term settlement in the UK.
You can initially stay in the UK for 3 years.
Upon expiry, you may apply for an extension of another 3 years, with no restriction on the number of extensions.
After completing 3 years, you may become eligible to apply for permanent residency (settlement/ILR) in the UK.
To qualify for a UK Innovator Visa, applicants must:
Be 18 years of age or older.
Secure endorsement from a recognised endorsing body.
Demonstrate access to at least £50,000 in investment funds, unless exempt, and play a leading role in the business’s management and growth.
Obtain entry clearance before arriving in the UK.
Provide a valid medical certificate (if required) confirming they are free from active pulmonary tuberculosis.
Meet the English language requirement at B2 level under the CEFR framework.
Achieve at least 70 points, with 50 points allocated under either the new business or same business criteria.
If you have lived in the UK with permission for 12 months or more, you automatically meet the financial requirement.
If you have been in the UK for less than 12 months, you must show at least £1,270 in personal savings, held for a minimum of 28 consecutive days before applying.
